  Turn on the 'Lights #3 Welcome to edition  #3 of Turn on the 'Lights, our regular news feed to keep us in touch with our members and friends wherever they may find themselves around the world. A Brief History: Santry Starlights Starlights GFC was founded in Santry Village in 1950 with P. Lawless, N. Farrell and L. Murphy recognized as the founding members. At the time Santry was a tiny village on the outskirts of Dublin City where it bordered with the 'Country' part of Dublin, or Fingal. Coolock Lane and Santry Avenue still form that border to this day for electoral purposes. Turnapin Lane was in the 'country' part of the devide and consisted of 36 houses nestled on the back road to Clonshaugh and Coolock.  In the 1950 era there was a large group of teenage boys from Santry, Turnapin and surrounding farmlands, probably hanging around with not much to do, but eager to play football. We had very positive feedback from last weeks edition, so we hope you also enjoy this weeks read, whether that's with a cuppa and the feet up, on the go, or on your break from activity or work. Starlights Lottery Draw: Starlights Weekly Lottery Draw returns on Saturday 30th Jan. We are delighted to announce the return of the Lottery Draw, starting next sat. This was always the clubs main income source and helps the club develop and also pays the costs of running the club. Despite the numerous lock-downs and no games, the club have still been active in developing the various projects which are ongoing during this time, such as Hillfarm and the maintenance of the main pitch in Collinstown Lane to name just two.   # Turn on the 'Lights Welcome to our first edition of Turn on the 'Lights, a regular news feed to keep in touch with our members and friends wherever they may find themselves. We will feature regular updates about whats happening in the club and the progress we are making with various projects which are ongoing. We feel it is hugely important to keep in touch, particularly in this new and unusual 'normal' that we find ourselves living in. Hopefully we find you all well and keeping safe. # What can we do? During the restrictions endured with covid and lockdowns there is only so much that can be done and achieved. It can be quite hard on some people and some may suffer worse than others. Some may cope quite well, some may be suffering mentally, physically or just not finding the motivation to do anything.
