 Turn on The 'Lights #9

Welcome to our ninth edition of Turn on The 'Lights, our recent addition in helping us to keep in contact with our members and followers during these restrictive times. It also allows us to communicate with you about the ongoing projects and events being under taken by the Club and how these are progressing.

Even without any on-field activity, this week still promises to be a busy week in the Club as we have our Grand Easter Draw on Thursday and our Gaelic for Mothers and Others (G4MO) 5K taking place over the Easter weekend. We also have our weekly Lottery Draw, which continues to be held online and can be viewed on Facebook live each Saturday at 9pm.

As today marks the start of summer time we hope you've adjusted your clocks forward by one hour; Otherwise you'll be reading this an hour ahead of everyone else!!

Grand Easter Draw:

The Grand Easter Draw takes place next Thursday, April 1st at 8:30 pm and will be broadcast live on our Facebook page (no, that's not a joke.........Especially if you win the €1.000 first prize).

Tickets are €10 each, limited to 300 and the Prizes are 1st €1000, 2nd €500, 3rd €300, 4th €100 & 5th €100.

There are still a very small amount of tickets available for the draw and are available through any committee member, or contact Anne Marie on 086-3523690 to get your ticket in the draw and have a chance of scooping one of the prizes. Unlike the well known Swords supermarket icon who always seemed to have, "more out the back", when these tickets are gone "they're gone"! Best of luck!

Couch to 5K/G4MO Charity Run:

Daughters of Charity Child & Family Services

The G4MO charity 5k will take place over the Easter Bank Holiday week end and is in aid of the Daughters of Charity Child & Family Service who have a number of family service units in Santry.

Why not join the girls and other Club Members who will be running 5K over the week end, any day from Good Friday 2nd April until Mon 5th April, to raise much needed funds for the chosen charity. Walk, jog or run any 5K  anywhere you choose, yes anywhere; a treadmill will also suffice if you prefer to stay indoors, but we have it on good authority the weather will be great!! 😉 So get out and enjoy the start of summer time, remembering to stay safe, but most of all, remember to donate!
You can donate by clicking on the Gofund.me link below. We have set a registration fee of €10 to partake in the event but you can donate any amount you wish. - every little helps, every Lidl, damn, can't use that one either!! Anyway, you know what we mean, give what you can, it means a lot.

A.O.B:

A.O.B or Any Other Business is a term used by committees to add any item to an agenda that may not have been included from the start, that may have been missed or was on the back-burner so to speak

We have a number of such back-burner projects ongoing at present that may seem to be progressing at a slow pace but none the less, progress is still been made.

The development on Hillfarm in Turnapin Lane is one such project. We were hoping at this stage to have the site ready to commence juvenile training once the government and NPHET give the go ahead.
However, it turns out that we need planning permission to erect the Ball Stop Netting around the perimeter due to its proximity to the motorway. This will hold that end of development up by at least five or six weeks if everything works out.
In the meantime we were able to mark out the dimensions and position of the juvenile training pitch and are presently looking at procuring changing room facilities. Again, this is dependent on the planning application.

The Club have also had meetings with the parties involved in the Metro North rail link as it will impact on the playing pitches in Collinstown Lane. This process is in the very early stages but we will keep you up to date as things develop.

That's it for the moment. If you want to contact us on any club matter or have an interesting story for us, feel free to talk to any committee member, drop us a line on facebook/messenger or email us on starlightsgfc@gmail.com

Until next time, enjoy the week and and lets run 5k for Easter. You know you have to make room for those yummy Easter Eggs!
